A suspicious man was also reported going in and out of Community State Bank, 201 W. Main St., Rochester, three times Thursday, but the bank was not robbed, said Racine County Sheriff’s Sgt. Bill Mattke. The bank was temporarily closed Thursday, but reopened later that afternoon. He showed her a note basically saying, “Give me all your money,” she said. She gave him about $10 and he walked out; he didn’t show a gun or imply he had one, she said.

Brutlag, who was working as the children’s summer activities coordinator, said she was grateful it didn’t happen the day before when they wrapped up their children’s program and had about 125 people at the library. Thursday was supposed to be a quiet day, she said.

Then, 13 minutes later, less than two miles down the road in Waterford, an incident was reported at the Waterford Library.

A male reportedly attempted to snatch a woman’s purse outside the library as she was going into her car, said Samantha Vogel, the circulation supervisor for the Waterford Public Library. The incident was captured on video, she said, and no gun was reportedly shown.

Sikora said Thursday afternoon that area businesses had been notified and deputies were actively searching for the suspect. He is rough shaven and was reportedly wearing a blue Pabst baseball hat, baggy dark blue shorts and black Nike shoes with a white swoosh.
