Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving is the traditional start of the holiday shopping season.
But after one of the worst October’s in 16 years, retailers say they’re concerned about this Christmas Season.
As NewsChannel 7’s Kristina Hamilton tells us, others are counting on the local consumers to outspend the forecasts.
With just a day and a half to go before the official start of the holiday shopping season, Panama City Mall Stores are cutting prices to move items off the shelves.
Kim Wise with the mall management says the “huge price slashing” may make this one of the busiest black Friday’s of all time.
“Actually I think we’re expecting an even bigger crowd because to be honest with you these sales are huge this year because some of the offers these retailers are doing for black Friday are big.50 to 70 percent off the entire store.”
Santa Claus is still coming to town this year, but his bag may be a little bit lighter than in years past.
Father of two, Patrick Cunningham, told NewsChannel 7 that the rough economy probably won’t stop him from shopping, but it will affect how much he spends.
Other shoppers agree:
“It might slow me down a little bit, but it’s not going to stop me.”
“Cause money is tight very tight especially in my family I know I can’t spend as much as I use to. It’s kind of upsetting, but you have to make decisions.”
