Surveillance images showed two white male suspects walking out of the mall with the bins. The suspects were last seen running north on Broadway. The male was identified as Robert Cochran III, 33 of Eureka. Cochran was still wearing the same clothes as seen in the surveillance and was in possession of some stolen toys. Cochran was arrested for possession of stolen property and probation violation. Coast Guard located the second suspect, Steven Danielson, 31 of Eureka, near the foot of Pound Rd. Danielson was in possession of stolen property linked to several vehicle burglaries, but not in possession of stolen toys. Danielson was arrested for a felony parole warrant, resisting arrest,
possession of stolen property, felon in possession of tear gas, and probation violation.
PREVIOUS REPORT: Eureka police on Wednesday arrested a second man suspected of stealing toys from a Toys for Tots donation bins at the Bayshore Mall in Eureka, Brittany Powell, Eureka Police Department public information officer said.
Detectives were able to locate Danielson using information from contact police had with him, according to Powell. She said police knew where he was because he had other run ins with law enforcement.
Police did not recover any stolen toys but did recover other stolen property from other burglaries, Powell said. Stolen items included such things as wallets and identification cards.
