polo outlet.com Goodwill to open store and career center in Griffith
“The Griffith Goodwill Store will have an open layout with wide aisles and a large furniture department,” Vice President of Retail Sales Mark Ziegert said. “There will be a work area to process attended drive thru donations so we’ll be able to put the items we receive directly on the sales floor. We have also included wall graphics to show our guests how their donations help others in the community.”
The thrift store will sell clothes, home goods and a sundry of other items. The national nonprofit operates more than 3,200 Goodwill stores across the country, where people can donate items, which are cleaned, refurbished and resold.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the community into Goodwill’s new career center and retail store,” President and Chief Executive Officer Debie Coble said. “Our customers will enjoy the convenience of dropping off their donations at the drive thru,
and shopping for affordable merchandise in a bright new space. Best of all, their purchases and donations help fulfill our mission to strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement.”
Beyond the retail component, Goodwill plans to operate a free community career center to teach people how to find jobs or better paying careers. Anyone who wants help can get free guidance on how to craft resumes, write cover letters and prepare for job interviews.
“It offers an opportunity to bring the mission of Goodwill and the retail store operation together,” Ziegert said. “Our customers can see what their donations and purchases help to facilitate. And, they can use the career center themselves, which is an exciting opportunity.”
